G27 Shifter Conversion to Sequential

I never race cars that use a gated shifter. So I decided to convert it into a full time sequential shifter.

The process is simple. Remove the boot to expose the inner workings. There are
foam inserts on the 4 corners of the shifter. I removed the top and bottom ones.

Be careful when removing the foam. You can use it as a pattern for drawing the
plywood replacement. Next, cut out the replacement pieces using 1/4 plywood.
The pieces need to fit tightly where the foam piece used to be. I then made
the rubber band retaining caps out of .05 aluminum. Once the pieces are made
and sanded or filed ( to reduce chafing ), attach them to the g27 using epoxy and
a small screw. Once the glue dries you can attach the rubber bands. I used
six per side for a good strong center

With the boot back on you can't even tell it's been modified. If you ever
have to return your g27, just take out the rubber bands and no one will know
the difference.
